As a young boy, my grandmother who was from Kiev would tell me stories about riding in 3-horse sleigh called a Troika. More than 100 years later, the sleighs in Sochi are Bobsleighs!
It was a 3 event day yesterday beginning early at the Sanki Sliding Center which is a short cableway ride from my hotel. The best part was hanging out with my Aussie photo buddy (AKA The Photo Ninja) Delly Carr.
Here are some happy snaps from our morning at the track!
Actual photos of the Photo Ninja are rare – typically just a shadowy figure with a camera, captured here with his faithful side kick!
I have been suffering from an extreme espresso deficiency, so when the Belgium team came down, I thought I had somehow landed in the middle of a beer commercial.
I had just a couple problems adjusting the shooting speed (1/5000th for those who care).
Just keep your eyes on the road!
I also got a quick look at the latest BMW models being shown here in Sochi. Here is the women’s model.
And here are the men. Notice the BMW colors on the nose. Very subtle. Yup that is the Photo Ninja in the shot, just to give you an idea of how close we were. Here we are doing Sochi Selfies, so to speak.
From here we went up to the Laura Biathlon & Ski complex to shoot Men’s Cross Country in the afternoon and Women’s Biathlon in the evening.
A great day of shooting with a great friend!
